For decades now, weight loss has essentially been viewed as the product of two components: limiting your calories and increasing your exercise levels. In fact, for many years there was a belief about weight loss that the key was simply to ingest less calories than you burn throughout the day.

Now we understand that weight management is a complicated issue that has as much to do with stress levels or emotional well-being as it does how many calories or even the types of food you consume. Conversely, however, your stress levels and emotional well-being actually have a profound impact on the foods you crave or the type of diet you are capable of maintaining.

For instance, studies show that not only do we get hungrier when we are tired , but we are also more likely to make poor food choices.
